I’m not remotely a Yameneika fan. Not my thing at all. That said, while I know Doug getting drunk is his whole thing, he came on FAR more drunk than you should be on radio as a professional. Before Yameneika even came in, he was way too blottoed and incoherent. The literal second she walked in he was roasting her in a way that comics do, yes, but typically ones who at least know each other. She was very patient and gracious through his drunken, embarrassing, mean-spirited rambling for quite a bit. Ultimately, she did misunderstand where he was going with his question and response, but he already set a tone of blatant rudeness, so she pretty understandably had had enough by that point. The fact that she interpreted it as a malicious roast joke when it wasn’t is his fault, because he’d already made multiple ones thus far. She did pull the “as a black woman” shit and started just yelling over him, but hey she was mad and…cultural differences, yknow? lol. My point is that I usually enjoy Stanhope as a guest on everything and enjoy him in general, yet here he messed up and should have just apologized (even if just to save the show he came on plastered and ruined) instead of fucking up and then leaving, saying “Big Jay, make this right.” Some comics I love as comics, but would never dare wish to be in their lives. He often acts with an attitude of zero personal responsibility or consequence and just parties w a cocktail glass in hand through life, leaving anarchy in his wake. Yameneika is also probably a handful to know, but she was in the right here imo.
